365 days of gratitude: May

May 1-
A lovely day, plenty to be grateful for. Preschool went well. After school, Jackie rode with me on the motorcycle over to the Turcotte's to feed their cats. NE 'A' St connects to McNelly. It's a pretty ride too. :) Vroom-vroom! In the evening there was a yummy RS activity. Artisan bread demo by Gwen Hilligrass, Stromboli demo by Gina Blake & a few other sisters offered jam demos. It was all so yummy! Technically I should attend Rogers 2nd ward RS activities, but I'd made previous plans to attend this, before ever knowing about this upcoming change. :)
May 2-
My thanks again for Fri AM yoga. It was a good day. Sydney D was able to watch our girls for us so Curtis & I could go out. We watched the movie, 'Heaven is for Real.' Of course it was based on a book, which was written from a true story. I thought it was well done. It was slow & thoughtful, but good. After we got home, I gave Sydney a ride home on the motorcycle. She had a fun ride home. :)
May 3-
Beautiful weather!! I was up early to check out some yard sales within this vicinity of Bville. College Pl, Woods Creek, Stonebridge, & Kensington were all having neighborhood yard sales. Later, someone told me it was all of NWA. I took E to her art lessons a little early so I could take Mer to her game. After the game, M & C went yard sale-ing with me. I found some great dresses. Hooray!
May 4-
Happy Star Wars day. May the 4th be with you. Church started at 2 today AND it was fast Sunday. Fortunately, Nancy was able to have a late morning nap before church. I was asked to serve in 2 callings today, both in Primary. God wants me to be the Primary chorister & a Primary teacher. God gives us hard tasks so we can become better people.
May 5-
Cinco de Mayo! We are not big on tradition, but in honor of Cinco de Mayo, I made taco meat for dinner. The girls had burritos and Curtis and I had Taco salad. Mer was supposed to have ball practice but it rained. We had FHE. (I think) Today, I'll be grateful for rain. :)
May 6-
Happy Birthday to Curtis & Calvin! While C was at preschool, I went and got a gift certificate for Curtis to attend a "Conceal and Carry" class. He's wanted a gun for a long time. He deserves this. I love my husband! I'm grateful for him!
May 7-
Mer started her May break today and so I took E to school on the motorcycle. She really enjoyed that! Today was a good baking day. I finally made some cookies from a recipe that I found on allrecipes.com. Jill Smallwood came over with her cute twins b/c her carpets were being cleaned. Jill is such a good friend. I'm thankful for Wednesday.
May 8 -
Rainy day, but still a good day. Clara went to preschool. M was at home b/c she's on May break from school. Jenny Harrington came over with her kids and Mer had friends to play with. Layla came over to play too, after preschool. M was supposed to have a softball game but it was cancelled b/c of the rain. I'm grateful for friends and the opportunities to help.
May 9-
Wonderful fun day! Curtis took off work and brought me a beautiful bouquet of roses! Since he'll be out of town learning how to ride a motorcycle, he did some extra stuff before leaving. After morning yoga and a shower, we had brunch/lunch at the Egg & I. It was yummy. Later Clara went to Henry's b'day party where she bowled and had fun. Sydney D babysat so I could go have a girls night out. A small group of us got together and had dinner at Mimi's. That was yummy too! Plus it was fun b/c I rode the motorcycle there. Cynthia joined me at Kikiberry later. What a fantastic day!
May 10-
I'm grateful for the extra love, patience, strength, and peace of mind that God is blessing me to have while Curtis is out of town. Once upon a time, I would have come undone if something didn't go right. But, that was then, this is now and I feel like a better mom than I used to be. E & M can be very helpful with their little counterparts. (C & N) I do love and appreciate my girls.
May 11-
Happy Mother's Day! We attended church in the Sugar Creek. We've only been a part of the R2nd ward a short time, but I have all ready gained an appreciation and greater gratitude for hearing the gospel in ones own language. I got to Skype with mom today and we talked about that briefly. I'm thankful for my sweet girls. They made cute litle gifts for me and Mer made breakfast for me this AM. :) Curtis made a brief stop at home before going to the airport. He has an interview tomorrow in Cincinatti. Oh the possibilities!
May 12 -
Today I'm grateful for friends who are willing to watch my little C & N so I can go grocery shopping.
May 13-
Clara went to preschool at Henry's house. I'm grateful that Clara enjoys preschool.
May 14-
E and M were able to go to Activity day girls with Hannah Hilligrass. They attended with Sugar Creek. They learned how to make pillows. It's good for them to be able to be with friends in Sugar Creek.
May 15-
Clara attended preschool at Henry's house. I babysat for Meg. She brought her 2 little boys here. It was nice to be able to help her. Meg is fun! (Meg Willardson)
May 16 -
Happiness is Friday morning Yoga. In the afternoon, Wendy came over to help cut sock monkey bodies so I could make sock monkey's for Elder Reed, Powers and Anderson. Mer had a softball game that night. It's good that she likes to play softball.
May 17-
A busy, but good day! Curtis was gone most of the day to attend the Temple with Rogers 2nd ward. E & M went to the Stake Activity days at church. M had to leave early b/c she had a ball game. It was cold!! It was tricky b/c C & N were with me. But, it was ok anyway.
May 18-
We attended church at 2. The weather was nicer! (finally) Sacrament mtg was tricky b/c N didn't have a nap before church. Oops on my part. I only had one of my 2 callings prepared. I did have a lesson for my small and sweet primary class, but didn't have the music portion ready. Fortunately it went ok with just winging it. While trying to teach the primary kids a new hymn, I thought of friends who have previously been primary choristers and I had sympathy/empathy for them. It's not an easy calling. Plus, I'm more comfortable behind the piano than in front of it. I do love the gospel of Jesus Christ. But it's hard to attend a ward that is SO small and is held in another language. Things that are hard are worth having/doing, right? God will provide. He will help, He always does.
May 19-
FHE is hard to have during ball season. Tonight, Curtis and I split up with E and M for the evening. E had a TREC showcase and M had team pics and a ball game. Fortunately the weather was good! Hooray for good weather!
May 20-
Clara's last week of 'pretty school' and I finally had an appt with Dr. Smithyman. It was more to check in and give an update really. It's so good to know that life in general is going so much better. I'm grateful for the way God continues to bless me and my family.
May 21-
Hooray for Wednesday. It's a good day to accomplish whatever I want or need to do. Clara had a playdate with Layla. Later, I took dinner to the Whitfields. I'm grateful for chances to help and serve.
May 22-
Last day of 'Bee' school (preschool) for Clara. Mer had a game. Poor M. She used to be really good at hitting the ball. Lately, anxiety is getting to her and she's not been hitting it. Hopefully we can help her work past that. Book group was at Wendy's house. There was a really good turn out too. Jenny Harrington came with me. Well, she followed me over and I took the bike. :)Good times! I'm grateful for book group, good times and good friends!
May 23-
No yoga today. Had a cough coming on. M was out of school and I made plans to take the girls to the Jones Ctr. Jackie came along with Jaymen and Asa. Clara was funny. She talked so much about wanting to go down the water slide, we get there and she doesn't want to go. Oh well! The kids all had a good time.
May 24-
I  took E to her art lessons, came home and went back to sleep. Curtis got E from art lessons. I'm grateful for naps! ah, good sleep can make such a difference. Curtis and I had an afternoon date at The Egg & I. After that we went gun shopping and Curtis found a good deal on one at the last pawn shop we went to. Later that evening, I went with Jill Smallwood to Johnny Carino's for a surprise party for Tara Flemming. It was SO much fun!
May 25-
Church was somewhat better. N had a brief nap before church, that was helpful. I was prepared to do both callings. That was helpful too. There are 4 sweet girls in my little primary class. They are so happy. As much as anxiety was hitting me Saturday night, much prayer and preparation seemed to be  helpful come Sunday afternoon.
May 26-
Happy Memorial Day! I love flag holidays. They make my heart happy. :) Our sweet spanish ward had a picnic at the Stake Ctr pavilion. The weather was perfect and the food was tasty. After we all went home, I took E with me to go shopping. Because of Memorial day sales, we were both able to find good deals. It dumped a good amount of rain while we were out. It stopped by the time we got back. I'm grateful for good quality time with family.
May 27-
Since Clara is all done with 'pretty' school for now, I'll have to make plans for her to have friends here. Fortunately, I had made previous plans with Kelcy to have Camilla here. While Camilla was here, Tabs came to play too. (a little later) She finally has her cast off, but still has a bit of a limp. I'm thankful that Clara could have friends here to play. M was supposed to have a game but it was rained out. E and M went to Activity girls with Rogers 2nd ward instead.
May 28-
Hooray! Today I made the time to prepare my primary lesson AND catch up in my gratitude journal. Today, Erin was available to have Clara go and play with Eden for a little bit. Clara really loves being with friends. I can't say that I blame her. :) This gratitude journal is helpful. Yes, there are less than happy times in my life, but that's not what this is for. I'm thankful that God blesses me to be able to put things in perspective. :)
May 29-
I'm grateful for time to be with my family, whom I love. It's good on occasion to have no other plans on the calendar that day.
May 30-
Yay for Fri morning yoga. After missing last week it was SO needed. Michelle Manning came here with her 2 cute kids and hung out for a while. (It was fun!) thankful we could get together.
May 31- a good busy day. I took Mer to her softball game. The Cuties won! 10-5. They have 3 games left, plus a tournament. Curtis took his conceal & carry gun class. After that I went to an essential oils class. I rode the motorcycle and got rained on. After the girls went to bed, I saw 'Moms Night Out' with Cynthia & Jen (Harrington) It was SUCH a good movie. There was plenty that was said in the movie that I could agree with. (It's a Christian movie.)
