Sept '14 - Feb '15

Life observations
(Tales from an outsider)

Aka: random thoughts & possible skewed views

We, as individuals & especially women, are the harshest judges on ourselves.

There are plenty of 'childhood' issues we don't really grow out of. Same probs, just on an adult level.

The more stuff we have, the more we have to complain about.  (or be grateful for.)

9/6/14- This weekend Tara Flemming put together a surprise getaway weekend to Branson for Mardee's bday. It's not about me, but I feel pretty special being included in this elite group of ladies! (Tara Flemming, Mardee Clive, Melissa Christensen, Kori Hatch, Jill Smallwood, Karyn Bennett, Sarah Bredensteiner)

9/21/14-  Strange! It seems when I'm out on the bike or driving in the car, I have these great thoughts that I'd like to write down. By the time I get home, where I can write it down, I can't remember what it was. (Sigh)

9/24/14- (today is Bens bday! He's 36. We are getting old)
There is something I've noticed about my taste in clothes & food lately. As for clothes, there are some things I liked when I was pregnant, that I don't like any more. There are even some clothes I liked while nursing, but don't like anymore. Prob partly due to weight loss, I've actually decided to try new styles/trends. (New to me, anyway)
My taste in some foods have changed as well. Again, partly due to pregnancy & prob the fact that taste buds change on an average to every 7 years. For one, I can not eat oranges of any kind, at all. Zero desire to eat a fruit I once enjoyed. Oranges in a smoothie or OJ is just fine. Can't figure that out.

9/27/14
Upon some reflection, my mind seems to like to review pros & cons of various topics. As an example, where I volunteered for BBB. Yes, the lot was not very close to the action, but I also felt safe there too. It's yet another reminder that God is aware of us. Perhaps it was better that I was in that lot, and that's ok. I still got to see plenty of bikes & chat briefly with a few people.
Since I'm in AZ with Beth, I've had time to contemplate pros & cons of being single. It really can be a selfish lifestyle. (Not all single people are selfish) But, you're free to do what you want when you want, mostly. But it's also kind of a lonely life, at times.
It makes me wonder if any of my sibs will ever turn their lives towards God.
It's interesting too, bc I'm the 'white sheep' in the family it seems to a certain degree I make my siblings friends kind of uncomfortable. (Maybe that's my misconception?) It's certainly not intentional. I wonder a little if my sibs think I'm better than I know I am? Make sense?
Mostly, I don't mean to be judge mental of anyone & hope I don't come off as such. It is thoughtful of Beth to be respectful of my standard of living. She swears less. That's nice of her. She'll ask others to do the same.
Though we are born into families, it's nice to know we make friends with people whom we consider family. Lately, I've enjoyed 'adopting' some people. Ex: Elders Reed & Powers (aka Powpow) as younger bros. Ed Upchurch, motorcycle riding coach, as my 'Uncle' Ed. :)

Part 2 (the first part was on the way to the family party in Sedona. This is the after part)
As different a lifestyle that I live from the rest of my sibs, it's nice to know we still have plenty in common. It was nice to be able to surprise Adam & Michele! It went better than I thought. Hiking was in the agenda, but it rained. For what I got to see of Sedona, it was pretty, despite all the rain. Also, I did not bring a jacket bc I thought it was going to be much warmer. Oh well. It was fun being with family, having a cookout, eating good food, celebrating Adam & Michele. Good times!
Bummer that Adam & Michele's van wouldn't start. Fortunately, Martin (Beth's friend) was helpful & so was Michele's friends. 4 of the 5 Parent 'kids' crammed in Martins car , (Jonas) was with us too. We all drove them to the hotel where they are staying. Jonas is a cute kid! He loves his Uncle Ben. :)
It does make ma kind of sad that I don't know the Parent nieces & nephews better. There are entirely too many nieces & nephews on the Chandler side to keep up with.  Not that I love them any less, of course.
It'll be interesting to see where Curtis' job takes us, and when.

10/2/14

A couple weeks ago I started Cymbalta. (Since I had a 'Prozac poop-out') I'm not really sure what to expect or how to know if it's doing what it's supposed to. I feel like its really affecting my sleep. I feel WAY more tired in the morning than when I go to bed at night. (More so than usual) My dreams seem to be much more emotional or anxiety filled than usual too. It's rather frustrating. When I'm awake I don't feel as anxious, but it really shows up in my sleep! Idk what to do!
I'm also rather frustrated with Mer. Much more often than not, she complains and says 'not fair' after almost everything she is told. It's wearing me out! I hope & pray that N does not follow in M's path. If that's the case, I will lose my mind more than I all ready have. Aaaagghh!
On a side note to self/reminder: kids truly have no real sense of time or the passage of time. Ex: when my dad was a truck driver & was gone a lot after we moved to Ft. Smith, I thought he was gone for YEARS. (At least 5 years) It was later that I learned he had been gone for only 2 years. For a kid, that's a long time.
Try to remember this when talking to Mer about time, dates, etc.

10/10/14

Guilt has a time and a place. (Like many things/emotions) God does not intend for us to feel guilt about everything!

Recently, I learned another one of those life lessons that you won't understand until you experience it yourself. Children need to be taught how to be grateful & they need to learn to appreciate what is offered/given to them. I say this because M & E recently were complaining about something. (Lack of treats maybe?) It brought to my memory a time when I was a kid and prob complaining about something similar. My parents would get so upset about their 'ungrateful' children. Oooohhh! I get it now! We learn gratitude as we go.

10/12/14

Lately, due to changes in my anti-anxiety/depression meds, I feel like a science experiment. It makes me sad that the Prozac pooped out on me. I tried Cymbalta for a few weeks. It affected my sleep, my dreams, & my weight, not in good ways. Now I'm trying Effexor. It's supposed to take a couple of months before I notice it working. Geez! In the mean while, I feel a little more crazy than usual. I'm almost considering just quitting meds. Not sure how that would go either. (Sigh, frustration)

     Update re: Curtis' job-
His boss Theresa called him last week and told him about 2 different job offers. There was one in Cincinnati and one in Chicago. Curtis really likes the job offer in Chicago. After some prayer, pondering & consideration, I told Curtis I'll support him in his decision. We are still currently waiting to know more. (Move date, cost of living expenses, job start date, etc) One might think the more you practice patience, the more you'd improve on it. Idk, hard to tell. I do know, it's really best for me to wait for Curtis to offer info about the job instead of my asking him about it. (Rather pestering, nagging, annoying, etc, whichever)

11/9/14
I get frustrated with myself for being needy. It's frustrating to feel needy or too needy. It's not so bad if there is someone that I can help. (Not sure how much sense this makes.)
Balance: there are times when I can help fulfill another's need & there are times when another can help fulfill my need. I will not always be able to repay kindness/or good deeds that have been done for me. However, I can continue to 'pay it forward.'
Today in church we sang, 'A poor wayfaring man of grief'. It was in Spanish, but I recall the meaning of the song lyrics. It really touched my spirit. For a brief moment, I was able to really think about what the Savior has done for me & how I treat my children reflects how I've done that unto Him. (See lyrics to previously mentioned hymn.) It's SO hard to be a parent. More often than not I feel like I'm failing. When will I know that I've made a difference? How will I know that I am succeeding?

11/21/14 - notes from 'Dressing your truth' - Type 1 personality

Other key words that describe the movement of this energy in a dominant Type 1 woman are: fresh, youthful, animated, bubbly, brilliant, radiant, connected then disconnected, crisp, fun and unstructured.

Before you have mastered one subject, your interest wanes because new impressions have already captured your attention. You love light work, which attracts your attention, where there is no need of deep thought or great effort.

Challenge: Because you are so adaptable with your light, non- structured, airy energy, and you have a sunny nature that boosts others up, you have a tendency to consider what others want before you consider what you want. With this tendency of saying “What do you want?” to others, you may also be trying to avoid taking responsibility in case things don’t work out. This may even develop into feeling like you need to ask for permission for anything you want. If this is happening to you, you have allowed your upward, light, airy energy to take over, losing yourself in your own carefree nature.

COMMUNICATION
You value change, fun, and spontaneity in your communication. You love having fun while understanding and connecting with others. Type 1 women are the chatters and talkers of the four Types. You like to talk, chitchat, and enjoy verbal interaction while doing other things. You can often interrupt or jump from topic to topic in midair when you are in the middle of a conversation because you process information so much faster than other people do. You speak what you are thinking almost instantly. You feel no need to sort it out before you spit it out! You are frank, talkative, social, and your emotions are readily expressed.
You relish good conversation, but can also go with the flow. You can chitchat or make small talk with the best of them. In your conversations, you can move from one idea to another so quickly, it appears random to others. You like to change focus often and move from one thing to the next, taking a lot in. You have a high level of belief and like to share that and use it to encourage others.
Relationships—You seek a wide and broad range of friendships. You are not selective or exclusive. You are not insistent upon accep- tance of your ideas or plans. You agree readily with others’ wishes, being compliant and adaptable.

• Your energy is light, scattered and upward. It is random in movement and appears to be unstructured and inconsistent to others. This allows you the ability to be flexible, change direc- tions, and be open to new possibilities.

Challenge: You can get stuck in the idea phase, bringing in more ideas than you can follow through with. You easily disconnect from one thing that is already in progress to start something new. You like the feeling of newness so you leave other things undone that have already been started.

PERSONALITY TRAITS
You like change and new experiences. You talk readily and easily to people. You like to keep things light and fun, encouraging and moti- vating others along the way. If someone is feeling down, you will readily encourage them, cheerleading them to feel better. You move forward with excited and hopeful determination, always making it fun along the way.
You are naturally cheerful and have an innate love of pleasure and fun. You do not like to be alone. You love company and amuse- ment, and you want to enjoy life. You tend to have an elated spirit, you are not given to worry and anxiety, and your nature is to be carefree. You are consistent in not being consistent—changing plans and living your life with abandon, not structure. You are able to respond to changing situations spontaneously with an inspired perspective.

If you are a Type 1, you organize things quickly in your mind, but you may look disorganized to others. This is because both your movement and your approach to life is more random. You can juggle many things at once, so it all fits together for you. Because you have quick mental organization, you are highly intuitive and can sense possibilities that others cannot. (For me, Random is the key word here.)

Physical activity—
You prefer group activities, whether work or play, and are not easily satisfied with individual projects unless the project you are working on is motivated by doing something for someone else. When you are exercising, you prefer to socialize at the same time and prefer group sports to individual sports.

Voice/language-
Due to your bubbly, buoyant nature, when you speak, the tone of your voice rises and falls a lot. You speak with more dramatic, expressive, descriptive, animated language, and a lot of laughter. You always talk with your hands—actually, your whole body will be involved in expressing what you are saying. You like to use animated words and descriptions.

(I have some Type 2 tendencies)
As a Type 2 woman you may have a tendency towards these weaknesses:
• You may get caught up in all the details and find it difficult to make decisions.
• You may be too attached to people, things, or memories and not be willing to let go so you can move forward in life.
• You may appear to be too soft, too nice and not be able to stand your ground and share your true feelings.
• You may become so concerned about others’ feelings that you don’t acknowledge your own or give yourself value.
• You may require others to slow down because you think, like you, they need to move in a slower pattern and give more attention to details before moving forward.

1/4/15

The Savior is kind to me. I too need to be kind to me. (Mentally, emotionally, physically) In studying Primary lessons & planning what I'll say/share, I need to remember that these words apply to me as well. I too am a child & daughter of God who loves me & I love Him. Truly take time to apply scriptures & doctrine to myself. Act as if my Savior is talking to me. He wants what is best for me. Why shouldn't I also want what is best for me? (In spiritual terms/needs)

2/1/15.  In Sunday school today Bro Conover commented that the scriptures tell us to be good/or how we can be good. (Look up scripture references) We often feel inadequate. The Lord doesn't tell us to be awesome/excellent. He tells us how we can be good.

2/15/15 - (one month away from Clara's bday)
This is our 2nd Sunday here in Edwardsville ward in IL. We visited with the Bishop during Sunday school. After chatting a bit, introducing ourselves, he asked if I would serve in Primary. I came undone. I cried. (Surprised myself) I can't serve in Primary. I love my children. It doesn't really make sense to me. I'm confused by my reaction.

Clara Michelle

Clara
Clara just got a little owie on her back. She's so happy she gets to use her Hello Kitty band-aid on it.

Preschool was at our house today. We were talking about being prayerful. When talking about how we get ready for prayer, after someone said close your eyes, Clara said, 'and bang your head.' (As she was 'bowing' her head) LOL!!
Then Layla said, I don't bang my eyes on my head. Then she blinked to show what she was talking about. Funny kids!

Whoops!
After E brought in the mail, I took the junk mail out to throw it away. While I was doing that, I asked E if there was anymore in the trash. Haha!

Clara says funny & cute things. Recently, I had to go to the Dr's office. While driving, Clara noticed the car in front of us had a 'rainbow' on it. :) It was actually the rear window on the car. It looked like a rainbow bc of how the wiper wiped the dirt off the window. It made the shape of an arch, like a rainbow. 😇

Wednesday night, (29th) Mer was getting ready to have a shower. She wanted to have N with her, 'bc she's cute!' Clara chimed in that she wanted a shower bc, 'I'm cute'. <--That's what Clara said.

Last week Clara was upset about something. I picked her up and carried her to her room, so she could calm down. As we're going, she's kicking & crying, & saying, 'you can't do this to me!' <---Where did that come from?? Haha!

I'm wondering if she is going through some kind of 'soon to be 4' phase? I don't know.

Feb 5- After getting in the car, Clara said, 'when I smile, my ponytail smiles!' 😄

Feb 6- While getting ready for pretty school, Clara was putting her pretty pink boots on. She said, 'We don't suck boots. We wear boots!' Haha! I told her she was very correct. 😄 Love this girl!

Feb 7- Clara keeps yelling, 'Camon ball!' (Instead of cannon ball.) She's currently playing in the tub with N, splashing a toy in the water and yelling 'Camon ball!' <---Hilarious!

Feb 8- Today, Clara described daddy's hair as 'grass'.
Later, Curtis told Clara to get ready fast. Clara said, 'Im gonna go fast! Fascinating!' Haha! We think she was saying 'fast-inating'.
After I did her hair, she was busy 'reading' Dick & Jane books. I was talking to (Mer or Curtis?) Clara told me to stop talking bc my words were getting in her book. She looked at me very seriously and said, 'your words are getting in my book.' HAHA!!

Feb 10- Clara is enthusiastic about brushing her teeth. She goes around with a big smile, showing off her clean teeth.

Feb 23- Clara was sitting on the filing cabinet and kicking it. I asked why she was making all that noise. She said it was music. Oh! Of course. She likes to make 'music' with all kinds of things. Maybe she'll be a part of Stomp someday.
Then I told her she doesn't belong on the filing cabinet. She said,' I belong everywhere.' Well, I can't argue with that. :)

March 3- (FB post from Curtis)

March 8- (from Curtis) Clara was cuddling on my chest for comfort. I was wearing an old saggy scoop neck t-shirt. She kept trying to pull up the shirt to cover my chest, presumably because the hair tickled her face. Then she asked "why is there hair on the sleepy part?" When I repeated it back to her for clarification, she said, " yeah, there's hair right there, on the sleepy part, but not there" (pointing to my face and neck).

March 10- Clara was being her own best cheerleader earlier this evening. I'm not sure what was going on, but I could hear her cheering for herself. Go Clara!!

March 13- Clara doesn't just make noise. She makes 'music'. She'll make music or songs for us. This morning she was making noise on the table with her feet. Me: What are you doing? Clara: Making music. Me: Oh (in a 'I get now' kind of way.) She made a 'song' for Nancy. Then she said, 'here's your song Clara.' :)

3/14/14
Clara was going around singing a song (that she made up) and spinning her new umbrella. When her song was done, I heard her say, 'thank you! Thank you!' -->to applause we couldn't hear.
Today is her birthday & she's on cloud 9, seventh heaven & just as happy as can be. She really enjoyed all her gifts. They were simple & she's just so happy!! What a blessing she is!

3/23/14
   Curtis came in saying, 'Did you know that your miracles are dead?' He then explained that that's what Clara was saying in reference to 'marigolds'. :}

4/7/14-
Clara is absolutely melting my heart today !! She's such a sweet heart! While I was in the kitchen, she sorted the clean laundry, on her own. I didn't ask her to. Then she folded & put away the kitchen towels & rags, w/o being asked! :)
Later, she wanted to wait for her sisters to get off the bus. I put her & N in the stroller. While we were out, Clara stopped to smell the flowers! SO CUTE!!

4/10/14
Clara wanted to make her own jelly sandwich for dinner. So she did. She got the bread, jelly & knife out and started spreading jelly on the bread, all by herself. I took a moment to complement her. Me: 'you are doing such a good job!' She whole heartedly agreed. Clara: 'yes I am!!' :) :) :)

4/16/14
Clara wanted to go for a walk. She wanted to walk her baby dolls in her stroller while I walked N in her stroller. I said that was a good idea. Clara said, ' oh no! We didn't finish everything on our list' (previously in the day, I mentioned my 'to do' list to her) I told her it was ok, b/c some things are more important than what's on 'the list'. I just love having the chance to go for walks with C & N when the weather is nice! What a blessing!
This AM, after C got dressed, she came out telling me how adorable she looked in the dress. :) I truly must agree!!

4/23/14
Clara is telling me that my ear rings remind her of where we 'decorate ice cream.' (Kikiberry) 😄

4/24/14
Flukey things! Kelcy Wanamaker (her little girl Camilla is in 'pretty school' with Clara) took Clara home from preschool today bc I was at a Dr's appt. Just as I got to Kelcy's door & was talking to her Clara showed up with a bloody nose! She didn't pick it, bump it or hit it. It just started bleeding. Weird! Poor girl had blood in her mouth, on her hands & arms and down the front of her dress. It scared her. :( Fortunately, with some wipes & tissue we were able to get Clara cleaned up. She was so concerned about how the blood came out and got on her clothes. (Her words, mostly) She's all better now. :) We got home, changed her top, and now she's watching her most favorite movie ever, 'Frozen'. :)

5/12/14:
Clara just told me that it's raining, like when you're crying hard. 😇What a sweetheart!

This AM, N was playing with the laptop. I left it open from last night.
I told N not to play with the laptop & that mommy forgot to put it away. Clara said, 'why did you leave it where she could play with it?' <--- Smart girl! 😀

5/18/14
Sunday afternoon, in getting ready for church, I put a pretty purple dress on N. (now all 4 girls have worn it.) Mer was saying how adorable N looked in the dress. Clara said, 'I'm adorable too!' I said, 'of course you are!' :)

5/19/14
While out for a drive with C & N, Clara was telling me that she didn't want to grow up & get married. She wants to stay little.

5/21/14
Clara had an earache the night before. Curtis later asked her if her ear felt better. Her reply was something like, 'my ear was tired. It needed to rest.' <---She says the cutest & sweetest things!

Have I mentioned lately how Clara's logic is hard to argue with. She says things that have a very valid point. It's SO cute!! (Ps, I really do like to share my cute Clara stories with friends)

May 28-
Have I mentioned lately how smart Clara is? She loves to sing too, loudly. And it's SO sweet! Yesterday she told me a 'joke'. She said her clothes go in her room, in the door, and in the closet. (Or something like that) I told her that she's funny. She said, 'yes'. :)

May 31, 2014
      From Curtis-
"Sometimes reflections do what you do. And sometimes reflections don't do what you do. That's when there's somebody inside of them. That's why in front of the mirror I do this." -Clara, while moving around and making faces.

6/9/14
This morning Clara told me about the different kinds of school she's learned about. C: 'there's first grade school, next grade school, preschool, and Friday school.'

6/11/14
While at Mers softball game, C & N are playing. Clara says, 'we're having happy over here!' :)

6/19/14
Clara just pretended to drive up on her pink & purple motorcycle that she got from Wakarusa. 😊😎❤ (while wearing a Cinderella dress-up dress)

     One time while we were outside, maybe at the ball park, Clara said her shadow didn't have a mouth. :}

6/27/14

E told C she didn't put honey on the nuggets. C said, 'what?! We have no money?!' LOL!!

6/30/14

C said something about smelling ham. (In the car, as we are driving to the library) I said, 'how are you smelling ham?' (Meaning 'why' I guess) C so correctly says, 'with my nose mommy! Remember? We smell with our noses!'

7/4/14

While watching fireworks, C said, ' I wish these fireworks were quiet!' (In a rather happy excited way.)

7/9/14

While in the kitchen making dinner, Clara came in, grabbed herself and swayed a little. Me: do you have to go potty? C: no, I'm just learning how to do my potty dance and this is how it starts. (Me: LOL!!!)

7/20/14

Curtis was asking Clara what she wanted for dinner. She said 'macaroni and cheese' Curtis: 'ok. That sounds good. I'll make Mac n' cheese for you. Clara: Dad! You forgot the 'aroni' ! (Of Mac-aroni) Funny girl!

End of July: (more cute things Clara said)
While we were in the car driving home, Clara said, 'Mom, did you know that big gews are champions?' (Gews = girls)   She's SO cute!!

I had taken the bed sheets off the bed to put them in the wash. Clara saw the mattress & came running at the bed saying, 'the bed is naked!'  (It's true. There were no 'bed clothes' on it, so it must be naked.)

While singing the 'Little bunny foo foo' song, she sang, 'scooping up the feel nice and bopping them on the head'. (Instead of field mice)

8/26/14

Clara is sad she didn't get to play 'in the morning'. Me: what about coloring and watching a show? Clara: coloring and watching a show is just business.

9/4/14

This afternoon before E & M got home from school, I was getting a show ready for Clara. She said something about seeing something with your eyes closed. 'Its like an eye dream.'

9/15/14

While C & N were out grocery shopping with me, C said something cute. She was standing in the cart with groceries around her. C: 'I'm surrounded!' Me: Surrounded? (As in, why do you say that?) C: 'yeah. Surrounded means... (I started laughing. Then asked her to tell me what she thinks it means.) C: Surrounded means when your stuck. Clara used the word the right way. She's so smart.

Sadly she's becoming a bit of a stinker. We've mistakenly had so much fun in giving her so many gifts that she's becoming ungrateful. (Oops!) Hopefully this can be corrected.

9/20/14

After watching the Animaniacs do the '3 witches scene' from Macbeth, Clara has been going around saying, 'bubble bubble toilet trouble!'
(Haha!)

9/25/14

After preschool Clara had a little rock she was looking for. She couldn't find it and so she said, 'let me use my eye dream' and she closed her eyes. She opened them again & said, 'it's not working right now.' She's so cute! C tried her 'eye dream' again & then remembered what she wanted to say about her rock. :)

12/16/14

What a night. We got home from house hunting in IL, gave all the girls head checks & treatment for lice, so we all got to bed late. Clara woke up around 1 AM unable to breathe. N was crying too. Curtis very quickly took C to the ER at NW hospital. Turned out C got croup. :( poor girl. Curtis brought her home around 3:30. He got up again to get E & M off to school. I put C's mattress in our room so she could sleep with us. C didn't go to preschool. Thurs will be her last day. She'll really miss her friends. Curtis is SUCH a good daddy. It's a good thing he didn't have to go to work on Tuesday.

12/19/14
Lately, Clara has been starting quite a few stories with, 'when I was 3....' Not sure why. It's kind of funny.
She says 'binoclears' like 'nuclear'. (Instead of binoculars)

12/26/14

After playing with her LeapPad for a while, Clara came into the kitchen & said, 'if you want a spoon, press THIS button!' (Haha!)

1/2/15
Clara says 'hostable' instead of 'hospital'.

2/6/15
Clara has been calling a frisbee a 'crispy'. Close enough.

2/8/15
We were going to have dinner with a family in the ward. Their lamppost outside was leaning. (Or tilted) Clara asked, 'why does it look awkward?'

2/9/15
Clara is breaking my heart. She wants to play with Layla. And she wants to go back to our real home. 💔😿
She's been crying bc her tummy hurts too. Clara told me that she figures her tummy hurts bc she's homesick. Aw! :(

2/25/15
While getting in the car after preschool, Clara said sometimes she gets hat sick or jacket sick. Me: what does that mean?? Clara: it's when you get sick of wearing your hat or jacket. (Oh! Of course!)

3/15/15
Happy 5th bday to Clara! She shared her testimony today in sacrament meeting. I asked if she wanted to. She did, I helped her a little. I shared a brief testimony as well.

4/14/15
Clara says: since we moved, Clara has regularly reminded us that she really misses, 'Bentonbill, Arkansas'. She doesn't just say the city or state, she says it all together. (Sweet girl!)
The other night Clara was looking through my yoga book & trying out the different poses. She asked me if it was 'extra-size'? (Meaning, 'exercise') I told her that yes, yoga is extra size. ☺️ Clara said she wants to be 'helfee and strong!' (Helfee = healthy)  She just fills my heart with so much love! It does break my heart to know that she misses home in AR so much.

4/18/15
Clara got a big girl haircut today. She'd been talking about wanting her haircut. It's pretty short. It's tricky for her bc she has less hair to twirl. (That's good!)
This evening, Clara came in telling me about the batteries in her flashlight being low. She said the light was going on & off. Clara took the batteries out to measure them. She said they were the same size. (She wanted to see if the batteries were 'low'.) so cute!

5/29/15
We (me & all 4 girls) were getting in the car after swimming at the Y. Clara says, 'Did you know that if your room is a mess, it's actually a pig style.' I did take a moment to clarify that it's a pig 'sty' not 'style', but I like 'pig style' anyway. :)
Clara is really looking forward to attending kindergarten in the fall. She wants to use her 'Hello Kitty' lunch bag too. :)

July 1, 2015

Before bedtime I told Clara that she was going to help like E & M. She will have chores. Clara started cheering & jumping up and down bc she is excited that she 'gets' to have chores! She makes my heart so happy!

7/11/15
We went to Nauvoo last week. One night while we were there, we were watching Sunset on the Mississippi. I was asking Clara if she wanted to learn to dance like the dancers in the show. She looked concerned and said that she just wanted to be a part of her family. Sweet girl! I explained that she could do both. :)

Nancy May

Nancy
    (End of Jan)
Last week, Mer was playing with Nancy and got N to take a few steps. Yay for N! She's taking her time, & that's ok. She'll be 17 mos in Feb. One more month til nursery. 😊
Nancy is a smart girl. She's so pretty too. She's still rather studious at times. She babbles 'ma ma ma' & 'da da da' & 'ba ba ba'. She can say 'uh-oh' and 'huh-uh'. (No) She shakes her head 'no' even when she means yes. We're kind of at the trial & error phase in trying to figure out what Nancy wants to eat.

Feb 6- N is walking more & more. Not 100% yet, but she's getting there! It's so fun to see her progress.

Feb 9- N woke up early & Curtis brought her in here(our bedroom) after changing her diaper. She keeps coming up and sitting on my shoulder. I ask if I look like a chair or a baby seat. She shakes her head 'no'. (Prob meaning 'yes'.) Silly girl!
I'm grateful that in general N is a happy baby. If not happy then at least content.

Feb 10- Within the last month or so, N has discovered the fun of putting her finger in her nose.

Feb 23- Curtis was in the kitchen cleaning up. While trying to put dishes in the dishwasher, Nancy was in the way/trying to help. Curtis blurted out, 'Nancy! Go lay down!' Haha! As if he was telling the dogs to leave. I busted out laughing. Curtis then said, 'uh, go play Nancy.' LOL!!

Mar 23-
Nancy has added a word or two to her vocabulary. She says, 'ma-ma', 'da-da', 'uh-huh' (as in 'no') and for 'brush', she says 'bssshhh'. :) The word or sound for 'pants' is similar. 'Ptsss'
She's such a smart girl. Everything goes in her mouth. We have to put trash cans out of reach. No dumpster diving! She's finally 'officially' in nursery. Nancy loves to play outside. She's a relatively good eater. She eats well & sleeps well.
Nancy is a good walker too. She gets into everything! It's time for more child safety locks & the Wii & DVD player need to gravitate upwards so that N doesn't bother them.

April 7-
I love the way N walks. She walks with such purpose & determination. It's so cute! She is also kind of starting to say a few more words. 'Bsh' could be hair brush or toothbrush.
Nancy is a social eater. She likes to eat whatever we are eating, whenever we are eating. It's good bc she likes to eat or at least try healthy foods. Depending on what the food is, she'll sit on the floor and wait for it to be given to her. :) She's so cute! She still studies people.
Lately Nancy has taken to, trying to wear Clara's panties & shoes she finds around the house.

4/18/14-
Nancy is big into 'monkey see monkey do' mode. If anyone is doing anything, she'll do it too! Right now, it's so cute. She mimics actions and sounds from watching her sisters or friends. N is a smart girl!

5/21/14-
In addition to dumpster diving, N digs in her poopy diaper! Gross! I showered N this afternoon after Clara told me that N was playing in her dirty diaper. Eew!!

5/28/14
N is such a faker! If C or M is sad & crying, she'll come in fake crying. I call her out on it and then make her laugh. She really loves to play. Nancy is a sweet girl! I love her so much. I don't love that she has a horrible bruise on her head from bashing her head on the floor when she's upset. (Sigh) Hopefully she'll grow out of that.

6/30/14
N is growing and learning so much! She has a few more teeth. She's talking more, not clearly, but saying things that sound like words. N is such a sweet girl & a stinker. She LOVES water! (Baths, showers, playing in the dog water, sprinklers, splash park....loves it all!)
N is really starting to like nursery too. I love the way Nancy walks. She walks with purpose. She likes the 'Happy' song too. When she hears it, she'll stop what she's doing and start clapping. :) Cute girl!!

7/21/14

Nancy is really talking more. She's starting to say her sisters names & the dogs names. Nancy is at that 'monkey see monkey do' phase. I think she especially likes to be a stinker, on occasion. Ex: she'll run away giggling when it's time for a diaper change. When learning to say, 'blankie', she initially said 'bee-bek'. Now she says 'bankie'. (Meaning blanket) She also says, hot gog (hot dog) and geek/geenk, like her sisters did when they were little. (Geek = drink) It's fun to see the way Nancy is with each of her sisters.

9/17/14

A belated happy 2nd bday to Nancy. We did celebrate on her bday. We kept it low key. I took C & N to the splash park for a little bit. For her bday we had s'mores cupcakes. She didn't eat much of the cupcake, oh well. N loves nursery. She loves repeating what she hears & what C does. N also loves car rides & putting clothes on. (& taking them off) One time Curtis took M & N out together. He texted me later & said he had M1 & M2 with him. It's true. In many ways, N is like M.

Instead of saying, 'funny', N says, 'munny' & giggles. It's cute!

12/14/14
Nancy is talking more. She understands quite a bit, though she does have a hard time telling us what she needs. She's big on mimicking just about anybody. (Monkey see monkey do) It's pretty cute. She's also being more positive, which is helpful. She's practically agreeable. N makes cute sounds of content when she gets her blanket. (Sweet sigh)
N still gets sounds mixed up in words. Lately, she calls 'jacket' a 'got-chet'.  She's also good at saying 'hi' & 'bye' to people. When pretending to answer a phone, she says, 'whoa' for 'hello'.

 12/31/14

Nancy is still quite the screamer. She has learned to use her hands to block her head when she gets mad & bangs her head on the floor. I really do hope she grows out of it soon.
I really love my cuddly girl!

5/7/15

Nancy mimics Clara regularly. It is so cute! Nancy is such a momma's girl. And I love it! She's starting to speak in short sentences, slowly. She's also learned how to completely undress herself. Nancy is such a stinker. ;) This morning Nancy was singing to a bear. She sang, "cwinkle star" IT WAS SO CUTE!!! (Love the cuteness!)
Recently, I was telling Nancy how cute/pretty she is. Clara chimes in, 'I'm prettier.' (Funny girl!) I told her that they are both pretty!

7/11/15
For a while now N has been calling her swimsuit a 'swim-soup'. She really likes to wear her 'swim-soup' especially if C is wearing hers.
Recently our family went to Nauvoo. If N had a breakdown, after a few seconds I'd ask, 'where's happy Nancy?' To which N would calm down & even smile. I'd look around like I couldn't see her & then say, 'oh! There she is!' She likes to play like this. I'm glad she calms down relatively well.

8/17/15
First day of school for E, M & C. After taking C to school, N asked where her sisters were. Aw! Recently N is calling 'corn dogs' 'corn hot gogs'.
Nancy really needs to be potty trained before she can attend preschool, but she is mostly refusing. She'll go potty, after a little fit, if I say she can have her diaper back. (Sigh)
Nancy is SO loud! She is by far, the loudest of our girls. I'm not sure why. After she turns 3 we'll have her evaluated for .... Something. (Sensory issues, speech therapy?)
Nancy looks like Mer when Mer was little. In quite a few ways N is like her too. It bugs me some when Curtis says that, but it's only bc I'm in denial. It concerns me bc of all the issues we have with M. I don't want N to have all the same issues. (Sigh) Trust in God & it will be ok!
